This is an impressive number. Actually, lots of impressive numbers: "It took Apple 74 days to rack up these half billion downloads, and 82 days to get the previous half billion."
The number of downloads is accelerating. Here is the press release from Apple. Also, note that Apple has sold 17 million iPhones and 13 million iPod touch. That's 30 Million devices that can run apps from the App Store. That's roughly 60 apps per device! |

Nokia plans to develop a charging system for cell phones that will draw power from radio waves in the air. Check out this article, that describes on going research into the possibility of using the air as a power source. Hopefully, they will give some small credit to Ayn Rand for this! In her novel Atlas Shrugged she describes a machine that uses a very similar system to generate electricity. Of course, her point was completely different. It's just interesting that many people were critical of the novel because of her inclusion of 'impossible technology' to prove a philisophical point. Now, the impossible may be possible! Also, take a look at some of the other cool stuff they're working on at the Nokia Research Center. |
