I just received the HTC Pure , today. So far, it is pleasing to me. I am sure that a few adjustments are necessary for me to be totally comfortable, but there are several wow factors that I can already share. Panaroma viewI hope to share some images taken with the 5 Megapixel camera in panorama mode soon, today was kind of a drippy rainy day, and I didn't think people wanted to see a panorama of my desk! We'll be deep into the fall colors soon, so I'll have plenty of opportunity for nice pictures soon. TeeterOkay, this is kind of a silly thing, but the Teeter game is simply awesome. My kids are going to go crazy over it! I'm sure that the motion detection can be implemented in much more productive ways. For now, I'll enjoy maneuvering the ball around it's little obstacle course! Touch Screen The screen is very nice and quite an improvement over my last phone (Samsung Blackjack) The touch feature seems to be suitable, although the keyboard is small and seems to create typing errors. This is no worse than any other touch phone I've tried though. The only problem so far that I've experienced is with the web browser - it has faulted twice. However, the phone was nice enough to send a note off to Microsoft describing the problem. Maybe they'll be able to fix it! So yes, this is Windows Mobile 6.5! I'm assuming there will be the usually little tweaks to the OS in the next couple of months. Yet to be determined is the battery life and other useability factors (screen in sunlight, GPS, etc) I'll keep posting as I go! |

Wet cell phones - Revisited |
|

Many thanks to the guys at Blue Ridge Wireless for some excellent points about cell phones that have been immersed in water: 'Wet phones are ecomonically beyond repair. All electrical circuits are suspect, need to be traced for shorts. Capacitors, internal batts store current & short boards, traces can delaminate, there can be a lack of circuit continuity...Our white paper is coming soon'
In short, you should no longer rely on a cell phone that has been soaked. The phone may fail at any given point without notice. You don't want to be stuck in an emergency situation with an unreliable cell phone! Be sure to visit http://www.blueridgewireless.com/ for more information.

Welcome to a very wet addition of the Cell Advisor's Blog! First we have this: How to save a wet cell phone (from Wikihow.) The first step is always the most important: Get the water out as soon as possible!
But, this article does point out a few things that you might not think of in your panic to save the phone. Most importantly: Remove the battery!
Next we have the water resistent Fugitsu F730i Cell Phone. A phone that practically begs to take a shower with the pretty ladies! Of course, there are other rugged cell phones out there, but none seem to have the style that the F730i has. I guess we will have to wait and see if it comes to the States! |
